Cicadas

For our writing we went on an environmental walk to look for evidence of life.  Our evidence of life was a cicada case, which some of the class found on tree trunks around our school.  We had to use our powers of observation to describe what we could see, hear, smell, taste and feel.  Here is my work.

Cicadas

The cicada has long crusty legs. The cicada has big sharp claws. The cicada smells like trees and leaves. It feels crunchy and fragile so it could be easily broken. It has big dry wings.  The maile makes the loudest noise.

Kawa of Care

Mrs Gardiner is in charge of computers at our school and she came to class to talk about the Kawa of care

rules we have to follow when working on our Chromebooks. We had to make something to prove we have

read the rules and understand and agree to them. Here is my document:

Te Rehutai

     Te Rehutai

This week we were excited to be learning a bit about The Rehutai, the Team New Zealand AC 75 that has been sailing in the Waitemata Harbour.  Here is my information.

America's cup is the oldest sporting cup in the world. The AC75 flies on foils. It is 5.4m wide and 22.8 metres (75 feet) long.  It has no keel.

It has 11 crew and the skipper is Peter Burling.

The New Zealand boat won the America’s Cup on Wednesday.

Writing from an image

We are learning how to write to describe things well. The teachers gave us a picture of an old man and asked us to write to tell us what he looks like. They hoped we would use lots of adjectives, adverbs, nouns about parts of his face and maybe some similes or metaphors. Here is my work.

Catching the Sun

Catching the Sun retold by Montana

Once upon time a brave Indian warrior named Saynday met a fat fox, big Deer and skinny magpie and they all said it's dark, cold  and freezing on their side of the world. They had to think up a plan to get the warm, gassy, sun from the Sun people on the other side of the world.

So fat fox ran to the other side of the world then fat fox waited for the right time to snatch the sun from the Sun people.  When the Sun people weren’t looking, Fox snatched the gasy hot sun and he ran like lightning to Big Deer.  Big Deer galloped to skinny Magpie and threw the sun into Magpies s

harp claws. Skinny Magpie launched herself up into the sky then tossed the sun to Saynday.

When Saynday got back to the dark inky black side of the world he threw the sun up to the blue black sky. Everyone felt really warm and happy that they had the hot, gassy sun up in the blue sky. Then the whole world stayed warm and it wasn't dark in the world.
